Riptide Ratchets
Revolutionizing River Transportation

River ratchets are used to build a tow ( couple barges together ), attach the tow to the tug and used as a break coupling to split the tow in half to move through the locks / reattach on the other side. Riptide Ratchets improves these processes with its superior speed, ability to attain higher tension and the handle acting as a reaction bar with the ability to hold tension longer.

The present process of break coupling takes approximately 45 minutes to release and another 45 to reattach once through the lock.

  • We bring a break coupling process down from 45 minutes to 15 or 1.5 hours down to 30 minutes for a full detach / reattach cycle.

  • This can save a typical tug an hour per day traversing the Mississippi, saving not only time, but also saving money.
